RJ45 8P8C FTP Connectors & Boot Covers

Supplied in Packs of 10

Used for - Termination connector for crimping on to the ends of FTP CAT5 or CAT5e cable This is the standard 8P8C (Eight Position, Eight Contact) Ethernet connector, commonly referred to as RJ45. Most frequently used in PC networking applications, such as connecting PCs together, or to a modem, router or switch. These connectors can be used with stranded or solid core cabling. Our connectors are FTP which means they can be connected to FTP cable to help shield the cable from interference. To make sure the shield is utilised within the cable, please make sure your RJ45 sockets in your equipment you plan to use these connectors with are shielded too.

Installation – Using a CAT5e crimping tool (Not Included), strip the insulation from the end of a piece of CAT5e FTP cable, line up the coloured wires within to the pins, cut away some of the foil but allow it to go past the cable grip on the connector. Once the wire are all seated, squeeze the connector with a CAT5e crimp tool, which will grip and lock the wires into the connector and force down the cable grip on to the foil.

Variants -

These connectors can be fitted to CAT5 or CAT5e Cable, using either of the industry standard TIA/EIA-568-A or TIA/EIA-568-B wiring configurations shown above, to create ‘Straight Through’ or ‘Cross Over’ cables.

'Cross over' cables are usually used for connecting 2 computers directly to one another, without the use of a Hub or Router. They use TIA/EIA-568-A wiring at one end, and TIA/EIA-568-B at the other.

'Straight through' cables can be used for connecting a PC or games console to a Hub/Router, or, in conjunction with AV extender devices, for audio and video distribution throughout a home or commercial project. To create a 'Straight through' cable, it should be wired using the same wiring variant at both ends. Either ‘568-A to 568-A’ or ‘568-B to 568-B’
