What can it be used for?
You may use speaker cable to attach your amplifier to your speakers. As this cable is double insulated, it can be used for commercial grade 100V line amplifiers and speakers as well as low impedance Hi-Fi systems.
The main purpose of 4 core speaker cable is to make installation easier, e.g., if you are running the cable through the wall. Having 4 cores within one cable means that you can just run a single cable through the wall and have it split off to each speaker.
Technical Specification:
30 strands with a ~0.25mm diameter per core.
Area Per Core: AWG 16 (1.5mm² Approx.)
Oxygen Free Copper conductors for the best quality signal
Outer Diameter – 7.5mm
Internal Insulation Diameter – 2.25mm
Colour - Pink
Uses both Red & Black and Green & White Internally for Polarity - Easy connectivity
Stress tested to 300V making it suitable for 100V Line Systems.
Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) - Low smoke zero halogen or sometimes known as Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF) cable is made of thermoplastic that emits a limited amount of smoke and no halogen when exposed to high heat sources such as fire. In a fire, a halogen-containing plastic material releases hydrogen chloride, a poisonous gas that forms hydrochloric acid when it meets water. Commonly used in buildings for safety in the event of a fire. Both the pink outer sheath and internal black & red sheaths are manufactured from LSZH rated materials.
Overview:
A speaker cable is subject to high currents and voltages (completely different to signals that interconnect cables have to deal with) and therefore has to be designed properly in order to prevent the signal being lost or distorted. Speaker cable is the last line in the chain before the sound is produced, therefore it is essential the whole signal is transferred intact as you cannot recover it later. This speaker cable has tight winding oxygen free copper conductors and a UV resistant & thick outer sheath. The intention of better-quality speaker cable is to give the signal room to breathe so the signal can pass freely through the cable. The outcome is deeper bass, a smoother midrange, cleaner highs, and a wider sound stage, giving your speakers the ability to play sound as it was meant to be heard and in some cases the difference in sound when using good quality speaker cable is almost like buying new speakers.
How to Use:
Speaker cable should be inserted into amplifiers and speakers, then secured. The polarity also needs to be checked, this is where the positive and positive are connected and the negative and negative are connected. Either colour of core can be used for positive or negative connections, just make sure that they match at both the amplifier and speaker.
Different Speakers have different means of attaching speaker cable. Your speakers may have binding posts, spring clips, screw terminals or require banana plugs. We sell banana plugs perfect for this cable and other cables in our range, please search our shop.
